You like?!

Got my new Warby Parker Glasses. They looked better on me when they didn't have prescription lenses for the blind in them. Although I guess you can be the decider. However, if I hadn't paid extra to make them thinner I would have coke bottles for lenses.  

I ordered the Beckett pair, it was a hard decision....I did a post back in February on the glasses here.

I was so excited when the arrived at school. I have to say they are very efficient with their service.  I had placed the order on a Thursday and received an email that said processing 1-3 business days and that they would arrive in 10 business days or less, hopefully less of course(my thoughts). The following Thursday (5 days later)I received an email that my glasses had shipped. I checked the tracking # expecting to see nothing, but then found out that they would arrive Friday(6 days later), the next day, before 10:30, I thought no way!  But, ha yes way(I'm such a pessimist), 9:00 got a call from the office that my package arrived at work. I  wanted to wear them right away, but had no place to put my contacts. I asked my students if they liked them. They said yes- good, otherwise heads would have rolled ---JK. 

Came home and immediately put them on. Love the box that they put the glass case in, super durable. Love the sturdy glass case, complete with cleaning cloth. Plus, I also gave someone else a much needed pair of glasses. Please ignore the thickness of the lenses. My friend goes "Are you legally blind?!" Ha

I think that because my prescription is so high the lenses are really heavy for the lightweight glasses so they do tend to slide off my face especially when I look down, which I do frequently if I am using the computer or reading.  However, I called up Warby Parker, got someone immediately, no automated service "press one for..." it actually surprised me so I was quite ready to talk.  I told the person who answered the phone my problem. He told me because they were an online service they couldn't adjust them, but that I could go to any glasses store and get them fitted. He said they should adjust them on low heat and that it should be free, but if they charged me to send the bill to them. Wow! Great customer service. You've sold me Warby Parker, plus again, I love that you give a pair of glasses to someone else each time one is purchased! Can't wait to buy my next pair!

Hopefully in the future they will be able to have bifocal and progressive lenses so that my mother can be super stylish and rock a cute pair. Let me know Warby Parker because your prices are a steal!

Sunny Days, Sweeping the Clouds Away

Yesterday and today were beautiful days in the high 60's.  Sunny, peaceful, tons of people out and about. 

 I was informed yesterday by a student that my eye was red. Thank you, for being observant. I of course figured that it was merely allergies. Ha! Came home and yes indeed, the eye was red, angry. But, we had planned to run. I can't run in glasses that's miserable. I know people do, but I'm so used to contacts now. Plus, my glasses are too small and make my ears and head hurt. So Gary came home we decided on a quick 4 mile run, even though we had originally planned for 6. It was better though because yesterday was not his day. He is a much better runner than I and well, we all have our bad days. I know that when I can keep up with him, he's having a bad day. It was also windy out. Dang wind. The beautiful day was deceptive.  I wore my designer coach sunglasses, I mean seriously who needs the real deal.....I thought it would help protect the "angry" eye from dust/debris blowing around. Strangely enough while the run was his worst, it was one of my better runs. He is one fast buddy when he's feeling good. 

Today was another beautiful day, but of course I had to call out because I had a fear that I had pink eye....yuck! This is what happens when you are around children all day and when people are not thoroughly cleaning my room. Thankfully I have 27 wonderful little cleaners. Haha...not child labor, they love it. Unfortunately, I spent my day cooped up inside cleaning and doing laundry- my day off wasn't in total vain. Then I went to the doctors to which she confirmed my fear, as well as the fact that I'm having some serious allergy issues. I am smiling in the picture despite the fact that I hate those glasses, but I have meds and can wear my contacts tomororow. Thank you DC for making my allergies larger than life. I've heard that people who've never had allergies before and come and live here eventually get them.  We are not just south of the Mason Dixon line, but we are in the allergy alley. My term, you know kinda like tornado alley except not as dangerous, just miserable. I definitely feel like the person in this picture. Sometimes my head just feels like it's on a cloud. My students comment on how often I sneeze, at least they say bless you.

 P.S. I just ordered my Beckett glasses from Warby Parker, CANNOT wait to get them!

I haven't bought glasses in awhile.  I don't really wear them very often because, thankfully, I have been introduced to contacts.  Changed my whole middle school life lol, but that was about oh I don't know 13 years ago! Crazy! The last time I bought glasses I bought from Costco. They have name brand and pretty decent prices. Although they don't take insurance so I might be able to get them cheaper from other places, who knows.  I picked out this "cute" pair.  Turns out- I bought children's glasses, the guy told me they looked good, clearly he didn't know.  They pinch my head and sit higher than the should, they actually don't rest behind my head. It's a mess. Thankfully I wear them infrequently.

I'm all about giving back and I love that TOMS gives shoes to needy children. One pair for each pair you buy.  They are super cute and I am guilty of owning 3 pairs.....and NOW they just introduced ballet flats....ugh! They are however kinda expensive ranging from $44 for basic pairs, plain colors to about $68 for more intricate designs and materials.  Maybe that's not too expensive for you, but I'm kinda a cheap skate when it comes to footwear. I'm all about Payless and Target.  But these...... I'm going to have to splurge sooner or later....

I have to admit they are really comfortable and are great for packing light. They have some padding so you are flat on the ground.

ANYWAY: A friend on FB recently purchased glasses from Warby Parker. Glasses cost $95 and they have some FABULOUS frames.  Specifically vintage inspired, which is very popular and hipster right now and-super trendy in DC right now.  I'm usually very apprehensive about buying glasses without trying them on, as I am with clothes and shoes. One option that Warby Parker offers is an option in which you can upload a picture of yourself and try the glasses on. Several other online glass sites have this option too. While this is nice, it's still not optimal, at least not for me, you still really can't get the true feel of them.  So... enter option 2.... you can choose up to 5 pairs to have shipped to you for free in a super cute little case. You keep them and try them on for 5 days and send them back with a prepaid shipping label--PS save the box.

If you are in the market for new glasses, check them out! 

I've pretty much narrowed it down to two pairs.  I do like a third pair, but I just don't know if I could pull it off daily, they are super cute though. So...I'm uploading pictures of myself in the glasses.
